PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
The Public Works Department provides numerous services to the community. The Department is responsible for Water, Wastewater, Streets, Animal Control, Building Permits and Inspections.

Water: Our constant goal is to provide you with a safe and dependable supply of drinking water on a daily basis. We purchase water from Arkansas Health Center and Southwest Water Association. The Haskell Water System routinely monitor for constituents in your drinking water according to Federal and State laws.
Wastewater: The City has a wastewater system consisting of a 600,000 gallon per day wastewater treatment facility and numerous miles of collection system. Currently we are in the process of designing and building another 600,000 gallon per day treatment facility on the north end of the city which will double our treatment capacity to further provide services to the citizens of Haskell.
Streets: The City constantly works to repair and upgrade the city streets by patching, chip and seal, overlaying and improving drainage.
Animal Control: In 2003 the City passed an Animal Control Ordinance to assist the citizens of the City in controlling animals at large and vicious animals. With this ordinance the City started a program which requires all dogs and cats to be vaccinated for rabies, licensed and tagged and leashed or retained inside a fenced area. Animals can be registered at Haskell City Hall Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Building Permits: By ordinance, the City requires a building permit for all structures to be erected within the City Limits. Also, Plumbing and HVAC permits are required for any plumbing and HVAC installation and where change out is required. Building, Plumbing and HVAC permits can be obtained at Haskell City Hall, Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Inspections: Building, Plumbing and HVAC inspections are required and provided by licensed City Inspectors at various stages of construction. These services are provided in the cost of the Individual permit to assure you obtain quality installation and repairs.
